Project Descritption

The historic building , City Hall of the city of Nichelino (TO) has undergone a restoration followed by a new lighting project, which has given the building a role as a luminous backdrop to the G. Di Vittorio Square, where it’s located.

The overall effect is achieved by two types of lighting solutions that come into operation according to the passing of the hours: in the early evening hours, architectural light positioned on the façade gives three-dimensionality to the building by enhancing its materials and details; as darkness increases, distant lighting is added to soften the shadows. The latter also creates colorful lighting scenarios used by the municipality for special occasions.

The lighting project makes possible to balance two opposing effects, from one side, the dramatic chiaroscuro effects given by the grazing lighting and, on the other side, the flattening effect given by the projected light.
